Saturday 18th October Round 3

Our U12 team lined out to face Killeaney on Saturday morning last with 2 changes to the team Maurice Lenihan stepped into goals for the injured Liam Casey & Mia Condon and Alesha Shiels starting up front for the absent Jim Lehihan.
The first half was an even enough affair with both sides having good scoring chances until on the 17th minute when Conor Lenihan finally made the break through slotting a beautiful right footed shot past the advancing keeper. However 5 minutes later Killeaney equalised after some good play from their midfield resulted in their centre forward getting a low drive to the corner of our net past the very unlucky Maurice Lenihan who managed to get a hand to it. It remained 1-1 until the halftime break.
The 2nd half saw us dominate from the off with some fantastic play from our centre back trio of Kevin Dee, Seamie Lenihan & Josh Shanahan. It wasn’t long before we made the break though once again Conor Lenihan was put though this time had some work to do rounding the centre back and finishing smartly to the bottom corner. Our midfield comprising of Patrick Lenihan,Billy Lenihan,Michael Quain & Ewan Murray worked tirelessly in breaking down Killeaney’s attacks and instrumental in creating chances which Conor Lenihan playing in the number 10 role duly obliged By adding a 3rd on the 47th minute after running onto a chipped pass through from Alesha Shiels again his finishing was immaculate driving the ball into the roof of the net past the hapless keeper. Conor rouned off a man of the match performance in the closing stages by adding a 4th after a driving run from the equally impressive seamie Lenihan from centre back saw a deflected shot fall nicely for Conor who finished well into the bottom left hand corner from a tight angle. Our 2 girls up front Mia & Alesha worked their socks off chasing every ball and creating chances.
In the closing stages Mia Condon made way for Stephen Condon to make his U12 debut.
All in all a fantastic display from all the players giving 100%.
